## In brief

- The Small Claims Tribunal found the council responsible for the incident.

The Ħamrun local council has been ordered to pay more than €4,300 in compensation to a woman who fractured her wrist after falling because of a pothole. The decision was made by the Small Claims Tribunal, which found the council responsible for the incident.

The tribunal's ruling highlights the responsibility of local councils to maintain public infrastructure, such as roads and pavements, to ensure the safety of pedestrians. Failure to do so can lead to legal action and financial penalties.

This case serves as a reminder for local authorities across Malta to regularly inspect and repair any hazards that could cause injury to residents or visitors.
