# AI-Generated Content Used by Troll Pages in Election Campaign

## In brief

- Anonymous social media pages are deploying AI-generated content to influence Malta's election campaign.
- These pages use low-quality AI images and videos, termed 'slopaganda,' to spread political messages.
- The content aims to mock rivals and push specific talking points as the online campaign intensifies.

Anonymous social media pages are increasingly using artificial intelligence (AI) generated images and videos to influence Malta's ongoing electoral campaign. This trend has been observed on platforms such as Facebook and TikTok, where political content is intensifying.

These AI-generated materials are being used to push specific political talking points and to mock rival parties or individuals. The phenomenon has been described as 'slopaganda,' referring to low-quality AI-generated political content designed to sway public opinion.

The rise of such content indicates a new dimension to online political campaigning, where the authenticity of information can be easily blurred. As the election campaign progresses, the use of these digital tactics is expected to continue.
