# Helpline 1779 Launched to Support Victims of Revenge Porn

## In brief

- A dedicated national helpline, 1779, has been established to assist victims of revenge porn.
- The support service operates under the campaign slogan "You are not alone".
- The initiative offers guidance and resources for individuals targeted by non-consensual image sharing.

A dedicated support service has been introduced in Malta to assist victims of non-consensual intimate image sharing, commonly known as revenge porn.

The support line, operating under the number 1779, is designed to offer accessible guidance and assistance to individuals facing online abuse and intimate image exploitation.

The launch was accompanied by an awareness drive carrying the core message "Mintiex waħdek", translated as "You are not alone", aiming to encourage affected persons to seek immediate help.

Non-consensual sharing of private imagery has emerged as a growing concern locally, prompting calls for structured support mechanisms for targeted individuals.

The new helpline provides a direct point of contact for callers seeking practical advice and emotional reassurance in handling distressing situations.

Authorities and support organisations urge anyone experiencing the unauthorised distribution of their private media to reach out via 1779 for confidential support.

## The Spin Room

**Low media divide.** All outlets reported the launch of the support helpline consistently without notable framing differences.

## Updates

- **2026-09-23:** Updated with reporting from Times of Malta and Lovin Malta: the confidential service also assists individuals facing blackmail or threats over the release of private imagery.
