# Thi Lakin School Remains Shut for New Scholastic Year Amid Financial Pressures

## In brief

- Thi Lakin School remained closed as students across Malta returned for the start of the new scholastic year.
- Headmistress Miss Tami cited severe financial pressures that forced the decision to end operations.
- She disclosed that she received hate mail over the summer after announcing the closure.

Empty hallways and silent classrooms marked what should have been the first day of the new scholastic year at Thi Lakin School, as the independent school remained closed.

The silence across the grounds contrasted sharply with activity elsewhere across Malta, where students and teachers returned to school to begin the autumn term.

The school's headmistress, known to families and pupils as Miss Tami, issued an emotional public message addressing the community about the painful reality of the closure.

In her message, she explained that severe financial difficulties had accumulated over time, creating pressures that ultimately left the administration with no option but to close the doors permanently.

The headmistress also revealed that she had received hate mail over the summer months following the announcement of the closure, compounding the personal strain during a challenging period.

The shuttering of the school has left parents seeking alternative educational arrangements for their children, bringing a sombre end to Thi Lakin's educational presence.

## The Spin Room

**Low media divide.** Both outlets reported the school's closure and the headmistress's remarks consistently without notable framing differences.
