# British RAF Veteran Named as Victim in Fatal St Julian's Parasailing Incident

## In brief

- Fifty-nine-year-old former Royal Air Force officer Daryl Mayhew has been identified as the victim of a parasailing fatality off St Julian's.
- The tragedy took place on 19 September shortly after Mayhew arrived in Malta for a holiday with his wife.
- His wife, Dawn Mayhew, was also caught up in the accident and sustained injuries during the excursion.

A British national who lost his life in a parasailing incident off the coast of St Julian's last month has been identified as 59-year-old Daryl Mayhew.

Mayhew, a former officer in the Royal Air Force who was widely known to friends and peers as Daz, was visiting the Maltese islands when the incident occurred on 19 September.

Reports indicate that the couple had only recently arrived in Malta to start their holiday before booking the coastal water sports activity.

His wife, Dawn Mayhew, accompanied him on the parasailing trip and sustained injuries during the same accident.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to assist the couple off the coast of St Julian's, but Mayhew could not be resuscitated.

The formal identification of the retired serviceman comes as family, friends, and former service colleagues share tributes in the wake of the tragedy.
