# Rabat Receives €930,000 Olive Oil Facility to Support 2,000 Local Growers

## In brief

- A new €930,000 olive oil facility has been launched in Rabat to enhance domestic processing.
- Around 2,000 farms and local olive growers are projected to utilise the site each year.
- The project is intended to bolster Malta's agricultural sector and improve local olive oil production.

A capital investment of €930,000 has been allocated towards establishing a new olive oil facility in Rabat, intended to provide direct infrastructural support to the Maltese agricultural sector.

The project is expected to cater to approximately 2,000 registered farms and independent olive growers every year, providing them with dedicated local infrastructure during the harvest season.

Domestic coverage emphasised that the primary objective of the funding is to strengthen the wider olive oil industry across the islands by expanding processing capabilities.

Providing dedicated regional facilities aims to assist local producers with essential extraction and pressing requirements, reducing logistical friction for smallholders.

The project represents a strategic effort to enhance the economic viability of traditional olive cultivation and maintain domestic supply chains for high-quality local produce.

The Rabat site will serve as a central operational point for farmers across the surrounding areas, reinforcing long-term rural activity in Malta.
