A 40-year-old man, Jurgen Cassar, tragically died on Tuesday morning after being caught in the machinery of his own garbage truck in Qormi.
The incident took place around 6am in Triq il-Kaccatur. Mr Cassar, also known as ‘Tal-Fieres’, was working at the back of the truck when the accident occurred, leading to his immediate death.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene, but unfortunately, nothing could be done to save the man.
Magistrate Dr. Donatella Frendo Dimech has opened an inquiry into the case to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
