ADPD Unveils Manifesto with Parental Leave, Four-Day Week, and Abortion Proposals

ADPD – The Green Party has officially launched its full electoral manifesto, presenting its vision for the country ahead of the upcoming general election on May 30th. Party leader Sandra Gauci urged the public to vote for ADPD to enhance accountability within parliament, emphasising the importance of a critical vote.

Among the key proposals, ADPD advocates for extended parental leave, suggesting that leave days should be specifically allocated to each parent. This measure aims to prevent the transfer of unused days, ensuring that the responsibility of childcare is shared more equally rather than predominantly falling on one parent. The party also champions the implementation of a four-day working week.

Another significant proposal in the manifesto is the decriminalisation of abortion. ADPD is currently the only political party to have fully published its electoral manifesto.

The party also highlighted its long-standing proposal to increase the tourist eco-contribution. ADPD welcomed the Labour Party's decision to adopt this idea, which includes redirecting a portion of the revenue towards local councils. ADPD had originally argued that localities most affected by mass tourism should directly benefit from these funds.

ADPD – The Green Party has further elaborated on its electoral proposals, specifically calling for work contracts to be made public.

This initiative, reported by Times of Malta, is intended to reduce discrimination between men and women in the workplace.

The party stated that greater transparency in employment contracts would help address existing disparities and promote equality.
