Convicted murderer George Degiorgio testified in court on Wednesday, making claims that align with defence arguments previously put forward by Yorgen Fenech, who is accused of the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Degiorgio stated that the same group of individuals allegedly involved in a 2015 plot to kill the journalist later used pardoned middleman Melvin Theuma to reactivate the murder plan in 2017. This testimony was given during the ongoing trial of Yorgen Fenech.

Fenech's defence has previously suggested that others were responsible for orchestrating the murder, and Degiorgio's account appears to support this line of argument by implicating a broader group in the planning stages.

The proceedings marked Day 14 of Yorgen Fenech's jury trial, which is taking place before Madam Justice Edwina Grima at the Law Courts in Valletta.

The trial by jury of Yorgen Fenech, who is accused of ordering the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, continued on Thursday, marking its fourteenth day.
