Volunteers from the Malta Ranger Unit spotted the individual while patrolling the area early on Tuesday. The rangers heard the sound of the electronic device and subsequently traced it to the hunter's location.
The illegal use of acoustic lures, which broadcast pre-recorded bird songs to attract protected species or game birds, is strictly prohibited under Maltese hunting legislation. The equipment was reported to the police, who intervened and handed down the administrative fine on site.
