A young man has been handed an 18-month suspended prison sentence after being convicted of damaging two road traffic signs in Qawra.

Adam Ahmed Al-Tamm appeared in court facing criminal damage charges after vandalising public municipal signs in the northern locality.

The court heard that the incident resulted in a total of €289 in damage to the two signs, which were broken during the disturbance.

In addition to the vandalism charges, Al-Tamm was accused of public indecency due to his appearance at the scene of the crime.

The prosecution noted that the defendant was shirtless in the street when the offences were committed, leading directly to the indecency charge.

Upon reviewing the case, the presiding court found Al-Tamm guilty and delivered an 18-month prison term, suspending the custodial sentence.
