The Nationalist Party (PN) officially launched its electoral manifesto, which leader Alex Borg described as a "contract with the people" aimed at delivering "A Fresh Start" for Malta and Gozo. The manifesto was formally approved by party councillors at an Extraordinary General Council.
Earlier, Fil-Qosor reported on the Nationalist Party's proposal for mileage-based car licence fees, a measure also included in the newly published programme.
Among the proposals, the Nationalist Party is advocating for greater transparency in public media funding. This initiative aims to align Malta more closely with the principles of the European Media Freedom Directive.
The manifesto also includes a proposal for a metro system. The Maltese Herald noted that the PN's economic approach, as outlined in its manifesto, shares similarities with the Labour Party's "economic Peronism," suggesting a focus on numerous proposals without deep, holistic planning. The manifesto reportedly contains up to 1,000 proposals.
The Nationalist Party has provided further details regarding its proposed metro system, a key component of its recently launched electoral programme. The party stated that the metro network would span 11.5 kilometres and include eight stations.
According to the proposal, the system would operate with 10 trains, with the party aiming to complete the project within five years. This detailed plan was presented as part of the party's vision for a new direction for Malta.
